Questions and Answers for planning your Wedding in Goa

What should we expect to receive in a wedding package? Each individual wedding is organised in addition to the basic holiday booked. We can assist with your Holiday booking by suggesting direct UK tour operators. We have outlined the minimum features included in the minimum wedding package. Any extra special touch that you want can also be organised.

What legal documents will we need to bring? The detailed list is on page 3 of our Weddings Fact Sheet that we can mail to you on request. Please remember that our Wedding Co-ordinators require photocopies of all relevant documentation at least 30 days prior to your departure and all original documents must be carried by you

Who will look after our arrangements once we arrive at the Hotel?

Prior to your departure we will confirm a date and time of meeting with our Wedding Co-ordinator in Resort. Details of your Wedding Ceremony, flowers, venue and extras if any can all be discussed. Trips to courts and registrar will be organised for you by our rep and costs are included in your relevant package.

How long do we need to be in Goa before we can get legally Married?

By law any one party needs to be in Goa for a period not less than 15 days to start the marriage process. Then again after filing the intent to marriage at the Registrar office we have to give a 15 days notice period. However our Weddings and Dreams' legal team makes a representation to the Public Prosecutor to waive off this further 15 days notice by submitting copies of your departure tickets and dates.
In short - We will start your first date in court in the second week of your holiday and complete the final registration into the third week of your holiday. Which means that you need to book a 21 night Holiday in Goa

When will the wedding take place?

Wedding Ceremonies and the legal part are separate and have no bearing with each other. The legalities are on week days that will be given to you on arrival and final wedding registration can be any day before, in between or after the Wedding Ceremony. The Wedding Ceremony can be on any day of your choice. check with us on available dates.

Where will the wedding take place?

The legal Marriage licence will be at the local Marriage Registrar. The Wedding Ceremony will be on the beach within a 15 km radius from your hotel, as per package or as and extra at a venue. Look out for our venue options in the Extra's section.

Who will conduct our service & how long will it last?

The civil ceremony will be conducted by our Marriage Specialist and the Indian Ceremony will be performed by a Hindu priest. We do not perform services by a Christian priest for non residents as the formalities are too lengthy. The ceremony itself tends to be informal and will last approximately 20 - 25 mins.

What should we wear and how will we transport our wedding attire?

Dressing for a wedding in a tropical climate calls for a style which is comfortable and very cool. A gown in a lightweight fabric such as cotton, chiffon or organza is recommended. When cholour, avoid deep tomes which will attract the sun. for the groom, we suggest light-weight linen suits or a blazer and cream coloured shorts or trousers. This look can be as formal or informal as you wish - virtually anything goes.Note: For court and registrar appearances the couple and witnesses are expected to be in smart casuals, no cut sleeves or low necks for women, shoulders should be covered with trousers or skirt below the knee. For men, shirt with collar and trousers.

Can we arrange optional extras such as videos, photography, music, champagne, canapes etc?

Optional extras such as these vary in price but we have provided an average price guide on the 'extras page' . These extras can be arranged with your wedding co-ordinator during your first meeting together and will be paid for in resort. Please remember that facilities are limited and therefore the quality, style may not be as high as UK standards.

Can we choose the colour and type of flowers?

Within your civil wedding package you are provided with a brides bouquet and a button hole. This is a standard boquet with local flowers. Your Wedding co-ordinator will discuss with you the type of flowers that would come within the price. Other types of flower boquets, such as orchids etc are also available, but will be an extra.

What name should I travel under?

The bride should simply travel under her maiden name for the entirety of the journey because the name on your flight ticket must be identical to those on your passport. Upon your return home, simply have your passport amended to bear your married name.
